The CHEER Community Center, Georgetown, DE

The Del-Mar-Va Council, Boy Scouts of America (BSA), is pleased to announce that Pat Campbell-White has been selected to receive the 2019 Sussex Distinguished Citizen Award.  She will be honored at the annual awards reception on Thursday, November 9th at the CHEER Community Center in Georgetown.

Campbell-White began her career in real estate in 1974 with Virginia Joy, REALTORS®. When Virginia Joy retired in 1981, Pat became the owner and president of the company at the age of 30. After more than 40 years as a realtor, Campbell-White has been inducted to the RE/MAX Hall of Fame and was elected President of the Delaware Association of Realtors in 1990. Pat is an active environmentalist, and has served as board chair for the Governors Inland Bay Monitoring Committee, the Inland Bays Task Force, the National Estuary Program, and the Center for the Inland Bays. Campbell-White was awarded the Take Pride in America certificate of merit from President Reagan for her commitment to the stewardship of America’s Natural Resources, and she received the Governor’s Award in 1989 in recognition of her service to Delaware’s quality of life. In addition to these achievements, Pat has served on the Delaware Technical Community College Education Foundation Council, is an Elder with Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Rehoboth Beach, runs training and education programs for the Sussex County and Delaware Associations of Realtors, and is a past President of the Rehoboth Beach Sunrise Rotary Club.

This award recognizes an individual who exemplifies the values of Scouting in their everyday lives. Past recipients include Alex Pires, Dale Dukes, Michael Vincent, the Joseph Schell, Preston Schell, Christopher Schell, Thomas Brown, Joe Hudson, and Ellen & Gregory Bahtiarian. The purpose of Boy Scouts of America is to provide an educational program for boys and young adults to build character, to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship and to develop personal fitness. Funds raised from the reception will help fund Scouting programs, including camp scholarships, recruitment efforts, supplies and adult leader training.

Tickets to the event are $150 each, which includes a donation to the Boy Scouts.  To learn more about this event or Scouting in Sussex County, please contact Chris Chapdelaine, Development Director, BSA, at cchapdelaine@dmvc.org or call 302-531-6730.
