Training Makes a Difference!
Empowering our leaders is essential to the success of every Scout. Our Training Resources page is designed to provide you with the knowledge, tools, and confidence needed to guide your Scouts on their journey. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to enhance your skills, you’ll find a wealth of resources here, from mandatory training courses to advanced leadership programs. Together, let’s ensure that every Scout experiences the adventure, learning, and growth that Scouting promises.
Safeguarding Youth Training
Safeguarding youth is the heart of everything we do, and our training reinforces a culture, information, and skills that help us keep our Scouts safe.
Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT) is:
- mandatory for all registered adult volunteers and youth camp staff
- required for adults attending campouts (except for Cub Scout parents accompanying only their own children)
- a joining requirement for new adult members
See what training you need below, and then get started at my.Scouting.org!
For the most current youth protection requirements, always consult the online Guide to Safe Scouting.
Online Training
Many required leader courses can be taken entirely online at my.Scouting.org, including position-specific training, Hazardous Weather Training, and Safeguarding Youth Training.
Once you’re logged in, click My Training to explore training available for your position and interests, see your completion certificates, check your Safeguarding Youth Training status, and more.

Training Incentives Are Here!
Did you know that units with trained leaders are more likely to attract and retain members and adult volunteers? They build strong programs, and they might even have more fun!
Starting June 2025, units whose registered adults achieve 100% position training in their primary roles will earn valuable incentives!
What You Can Earn
Free Weekend Campsite Rental Qualifying units receive a coupon for a free weekend campsite rental at an in-council camp, or equivalent discount on a cabin rental. Use within 12 months of verification. Some blackout dates apply (e.g. Klondike Derbies, Family Adventure Weekends, OA weekends).
District Recognition Units also receive a flag ribbon at next year’s district awards banquet, honoring your commitment to high-quality Scouting. Ribbons can be earned annually by maintaining training status and helping new volunteers get position-trained.
Important Details
- Chartered Organization Representatives (CORs) are exempt at this time, but encourage them to complete training
- Training teaches skills that make units safer, stronger, and more fun
