Randy began his professional career with Perdue Farms in 1980, holding various positions of increasing responsibility in the company's two operating divisions, Perdue Foods and Perdue AgriBusiness. He began his career in distribution and sales in foods, before advancing into executive level positions in quality assurance, product development and logistics. During his tenure as President and General Manager of Perdue's Specialty Foods Division, Randy's responsibilities included further-processed foods operations and foodservice sales and marketing. In 2008, Randy was named Senior Vice President of Perdue AgriBusiness, with responsibility for business development and strategic planning. In 2015, he was promoted to President of Perdue Foods.

Randy received his bachelor of science degree in biology from Western Maryland College. He earned a master's degree in poultry nutrition from the University of Maryland-College Park. He also completed the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School.  Randy served on the Board of Directors of the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association, on the Executive Committee of the National Turkey Federation and on the Technical and Regulatory Committee of the National Chicken Council.
