Henson Scout Reservation is nestled on 1889 acres of pristine Delmarva pinelands, bordered by the Nanticoke River and Marshyhope Creek. Recognized by the Nature Conservancy’s “Last Great Places” campaign, our camp offers an unparalleled natural setting that has been the backdrop for countless Scout adventures. This setting gives Henson Scout Reservation the unique advantage that every trail and campsite is flat and sandy; no need to stumble over rocks as you traverse mountainous terrain to your next adventure. Visiting Henson means reconnecting with the beauty and tranquility that make it truly special.

A camp designed for Scouting
Our facilities are planned with the needs of Troops and their Scouts in mind. Each campsite is equipped with picnic tables and a fire ring and are within close proximity to our program areas, dining hall, and shower facilities. Many campsites even have electrical outlets available to the tents and some even have Wi-Fi. The camp was designed with a comprehensive plan by the National Engineering Service of the BSA in the 1960s and is still regarded as “as close as possible to the perfect camp design.” At Henson Scout Reservation, everything is just around the corner and a short walk down the easy trail.
Innovative and comprehensive programs
We continue to innovate and expand our short-term program offerings to give your Scouts access to exceptional experiences and exciting opportunities to learn new skills. From exploring electronics and electricity to creating in our Metal Arts program through Welding and Blacksmithing Merit Badges, honing their skills on the ranges, and diving into STEM adventures like Robotics and Fly Fishing, Henson has something to spark every Scout’s curiosity, build confidence, and inspire new passions.
