Honoring: Derick & Dina Daly

The Del-Mar-Va Council, BSA is pleased to announce that Derick & Dina Daly, the founding members of Building African American Minds, Inc. (BAAM), are the 2022 recipients of the Midshore Distinguished Citizen Award! Recipients of the Midshore Distinguished Citizen Award are chosen for their outstanding service as evidenced by their leadership to many organizations, as well as the respect and esteem in which they are held by their colleagues.

The Daly’s started Building African American Minds, Inc. (BAAM). Inc, in 2005. BAAM is a non-profit organization that serves all children, but primarily African-Americans in the Easton area.  Mr. Daly is also the current Treasurer of BAAM, chairman of BAAM College Assistance Fund, CEO of JACK Resources, CEO of JACK Innovations, LLC., Treasurer of Naima Ventures, LLC, CEO of Inspo Productions, LLC and a member of Aspire Outdoors, LLC. Dina Gomes Daly is Executive Director of Building African American Minds (BAAM) Inc. She began this position in April 2021. Dina is responsible for all the programming that is offered by BAAM to youth, their families and the community, at large. Services will be expanding to include after school programming for girls and future plans will include services/training to young adults and parents who are seeking employment opportunities but need services/training to enable them to become employable or locate employment opportunities that providing with livable wages. Mrs. Daly serves in many local governmental and non-profit boards and has held leadership positions in several of them. The Daly’s also have a BAAM Scholarship Fund through the Mid-Shore Community Foundation. The scholarship program is designed to provide scholarships to African American males attending a four-year college. Their contributions to education and their community are immeasurable!

The Del-Mar-Va Council is honored to present Dina & Derick Daly with this well-deserved award September 20, 2022, at the BAAM Center in Easton, MD.
