Special Events The Del-Mar-Va Council offers a variety of special events throughout the year designed to honor community leaders, tell the story of the Council, and to raise funds to support Scouting programs. Below are the different events held throughout the year. S omerset Outstanding Citizen Award Dinner Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Somerset County Civic Center in Princess Anne. This year the Boy Scouts will honor Bill and Sharon Harris, owners of Harris Ace Hardware in Princess Anne and Pocomoke City. Register to attend or be an event sponsor HERE. Citizen of the Year Award Dinner  2013 Honoree - Brian DiSabatino, President, EDiS Company Tuesday, June 11that 6:00 PM at the Chase Center, Riverfront Wilmington DE The Del Mar Va Council, Boy Scouts of America will honor Brian DiSabatino, President, EDiS Company & EDiS Building, as recipient of the 2013 Citizen of the Year, in recognition for extraordinary community leadership and outstanding contributions to improving the quality of life in Delaware. The Dinner Chairman is Skip Pennella, Director, External Affairs, CAI, Computer Aid, Inc. Previous honorees include Fred Sears, Bob Harra, Alan Levin, Rob Buccini, Connie Bond Stuart, Dr. Robert Laskowski, Ernest J. Dianastasis, and Tony Allen. See some great photos from the 2012 event HERE. 31st Annual Del-Mar-Va Golf Classic  Fall of 2013 at Deerfield Golf & Tennis Club The mission of the Golf Invitational is to provide an avenue for corporations and community leaders to raise funds to support the Del-Mar-Va Council, Boy Scouts of America. Kent County Distinguished Citizen Awards Dinner  The goal of the Kent County Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner is to recognize a local Kent County leader that through their dedication, hard work and passion has made our community stronger. The Del-Mar-Va Council honored Bill and Mary Jane Willis of Smyrna on October 25, 2012. See some great photos from the 2012 event HERE. Duty to God and Country Prayer Breakfast  August 2013, Wicomico Youth and Civic Center The mission of the Duty to God Breakfast is to bring together people for an event that celebrates the twelfth point of the Scout Law...a Scout is Reverent. Sussex Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner  The goal of the Sussex Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner is to recognize a Sussex County leader that through their dedication, hard work and passion has made our community stronger. The Del-Mar-Va Council honored community leader, Joseph R. Hudson of Milton DE on November 14th at the Rehoboth Beach Yacht and Country Club in Rehoboth Beach DE. 2nd Annual Fall Classic Sporting Clays Tournament  The mission of the Sporting Clays Classic is to provide an avenue for corporations and community leaders to raise funds to support our Council’s programs. Guests receive a day of first class shooting and dinner. Mid Shore Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner  The goal of the Mid Shore Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner is to recognize a local Mid-Shore area leader that through their dedication, hard work and passion has made our community stronger. In 2012 the Del-Mar-Va Council honored Delia Denny, Executive Vice President of Easton Bank and Trust. She is a regional business leader, who was recently recognized for her service in the banking industry and the Easton Memorial Hospital. See some great photos from the 2012 event HERE. 3rd Annual Delaware Chili Run  Saturday, March 23rd at the Riverfront in Wilmington Registration at 8:30am - Race starts at 10:30am A unique event led by Jason Heupel and the ING Direct team. The event is a run, eat, run and is designed to be a fun way to help raise funds to support inner city Wilmington Scouting. The 2012 event was attended by 250 runners and walkers and an additional 100 spectators.  Lower Shore Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner Saturday, April 20th, - The Fountains Wedding and Conference Center, Salisbury, MD The goal of the Lower Shore Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner is to recognize a lower shore leader that through their dedication, hard work and passion has made our community stronger.
