Participation in community service plays a key role in achieving the aims of Scouting. Improve the strength of your unit’s program and broaden the Scouting experience of your boys by participating in this Council-Wide service project. The number of needy people on the Delmarva Peninsula continues to increase. We can help them by supporting local food banks with donations. Won’t your Scouting unit please help feed the people in our communities by participating in the Scouting for Food campaign?

The plan is simple:

  • Click here to complete the Scouting For Food commitment form to ensure you have bags for the October Roundtable.
  • Choose a local food bank or organization that offers food to the needy. You may not give donations to an organization that sells the food. The organization must distribute the food free of charge.
  • Pick up your unit’s Scouting for Food bags at your district’s October roundtable or contact your District Executive.
  • On Saturday morning November 10th distribute the Scouting for Food bags in your community. In cases where more than one unit serve a community please coordinate with others to cover the entire community one time.
  • The following Saturday morning November 17th pick up the non-perishable food items set out by community members and deliver them to the community organization of your choice for distribution. Units are encouraged to knock on doors of homes where no bag has been set out as a reminder of the food pick up day.
