Event Description: The Chariot Race is an event that is open to all Cub Scout Packs in the Del-Mar-Va Council to come out and have a good time with a little friendly competition! Packs will compete against other Packs by den to see who can complete the Chariot Race course in the fastest time while stopping along the way at select locations to finish special obstacles or tasks.
What to Bring: Participating Packs must furnish their own chariot for the race. Chariots should have wheels to make pulling easier for the Scouts and must be made to accommodate a rider.
General Rules: Chariots shall be powered by Scouts only and with the assistance of no mechanical devices. All chariots must have a rider at all times and shall accommodate no more than eight (8) Scouts for pulling the chariot. Races and results will be recorded by dens so Tigers from Packs will be competing against Tigers from other Packs, Wolves against other Wolves, etc. Packs can enter as many dens as are needed to accommodate all Scouts from each of their dens. For example, a Pack has 16 Bear Cubs, therefore they can run two (2) separate dens to make sure that all Scouts have an opportunity to participate. No Scout will be left out. If Scouts from a higher aged den must be used to fill-in to allow a younger den to run a race (example: Wolves filling in to help Tigers, Webelos filling in to help Bears, etc.) then that race will be timed against dens from the higher age group. Chariots must stop along the course to complete skill locations. Each Scout participating in the races must participate at each skill location and the chariot shall not leave the skill location until all Scouts have completed it.
We're excited to have the Chariot Races back and we hope that everyone can come out and join us! We also want to be good Scouts and good Scouting families. This event is meant to be fun for the boys and we trust that everyone will be coming ready to cheer on all of the Scouts while obeying the Scout Law.
Let's Have some fun!!
