The Del-Mar-Va Council is pleased to announce that Mr. Randy Day, Chief Executive Officer, Perdue Farms, will be the honored recipient of the 2022 Lower Shore Distinguished Citizen Award. As Chief Executive Officer, Randy Day leads the Perdue Farms senior leadership team, including Perdue Foods, Perdue AgriBusiness and Perdue Farms corporate functions. Randy was named CEO in March of 2017, after serving as Chief Operating Officer since May of 2016. Randy is the fourth CEO in the company's nearly 100-year history. Randy began his professional career with Perdue Farms in 1980, holding various positions of increasing responsibility in the company's two operating divisions, Perdue Foods and Perdue AgriBusiness. He began his career in distribution and sales in foods, before advancing into executive level positions in quality assurance, product development and logistics. During his tenure as President and General Manager of Perdue's Specialty Foods Division, Randy's responsibilities included further-processed foods operations and foodservice sales and marketing. In 2008, Randy was named Senior Vice President of Perdue AgriBusiness, with responsibility for business development and strategic planning. He returned to Perdue Foods in 2013 as Senior Vice President of Supply Chain, and he was named Executive Vice President of Operations a year later. In 2015, he was promoted to President of Perdue Foods.
Randy received his bachelor of science degree in biology from Western Maryland College. He earned a master's degree in poultry nutrition from the University of Maryland-College Park. He also completed the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School. Randy served on the Board of Directors of the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association, on the Executive Committee of the National Turkey Federation and on the Technical and Regulatory Committee of the National Chicken Council. He currently serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for the National Chicken Council. In his community, he served on the Board of the MidAtlantic YMCA, chaired the Secondary Education Advisory Committee for the Wicomico County Board of Education and participated in the Wicomico County Mentoring Project. He is a member of the Greater Salisbury Committee and Council At Large of the Salisbury Chamber of Commerce.
