The Del-Mar-Va Council is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2021 Midshore Distinguished Citizen is Rabbi Peter Hyman of Temple B'nai Israel in Easton, MD!
A native of Connecticut, Rabbi Hyman came to Easton after serving congregations in Pennsylvania, Texas and Florida. Rabbi Hyman graduated from the Hebrew Union College Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1977 and was ordained in 1980. In 2005, he received an honorary Doctor of Divinity from the Hebrew Union College. Involved with all aspects of synagogue life and community relations, Rabbi Hyman has a passion for teaching, a deep love of Torah and a commitment to share the wisdom and beauty of Judaism with all those he encounters. Rabbi Hyman has received many awards from religious and community groups, including the Union for Reform Judaism's Belin Award for Outreach Program Excellence, the Silver Buffalo Distinguished Service Award, and most recently the Bronze Wolf Award from the Boy Scouts of America. He is an Eagle Scout and a longtime Philmont and World and National Jamboree chaplain. in 2019, Rabbi Hyman lead as chair of the Faith and Beliefs program at the World Scouting Jamboree held at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia.
