Welcome to Youth Advancement

Cecil District Merit Badge Counselors

Attention Cecil District Merit Badge Counselors:
IT’S JUNE AND TIME TO RENEW YOUR COUNSELOR INFORMATION

Merit Badge Counselors need to complete an Adult Leaders application, online Youth Protection Training, and a Merit Badge Counselor Information worksheet. This only needs to be done ONCE, if you renew your information annually with Marc Beckert, the Cecil District Merit Badge Coordinator. You can email your renewal acceptance to him at marcbeckert@outlook.com, no later than the end of June.

We are asking that every new merit badge counselor review our Merit Badge Counselor Guidelines and complete the Merit Badge Counselor Information form (PDF file). This only needs to be done ONCE, if you renew annually by the end of June.

If you would like to review the roles, responsibilities and some frequently asked questions about being a Merit Badge Counselor please refer to the "Guide for Merit Badge Counselors" page, located on the National site.

Council will contact me after all your paperwork has been inspected & then an Eagle Board of Review (BOR) can be scheduled.

After you complete your Eagle Scout project you can also start collecting Letters of recommendation. You will need a minimum of 3 letters of recommendation to schedule a BOR; these 3 minimum letters cannot be from a parent of family member. Family members are encouraged to always write letters, but do not count towards your 3 minimum. A template will be provided for you that you can use to seek those letters of recommendation. As a suggestion you can seek those letters from: Teachers, Principals, Scout leaders, Pastors / priests, Coaches, Neighbors

Please note (VERY IMPORTANT), those letters of recommendation must come directly to the Advancement Chair. Email is the fastest way. Again instructions will be provided to you after your Eagle Project is approved.

Finally you have your Board of Review (Location TBD)
